Wigan Hypnotherapy is run by Alecea White D.Hyp, MIAPH and specialises in Hypno-Band virtual gastric band, weight loss, pain management, resolving anxiety, fears and phobias.  As a member of the IAPH (International Association of Pure Hypnoanalysts) Alecea practises a technique which is exclusive to the IAPH - pure hypnoanalysis in addition to The Thrive Programme and suggestion hypnotherapy.

 
 

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of relaxation which allows the hypnotherapist to access the subconscious mind. Most people have experienced a state of self-hypnosis without realising it, when lost in a book or when you find yourself driving from A to B without remembering how you got there. Hypnosis is simply a state of heightened relaxation and altered awareness. 

 

How does hypnosis feel?

After hypnosis, you could be forgiven for thinking ‘hypnosis didn’t work for me, I didn’t go under’ as when in hypnosis everything that is said to you, you are aware of. You can hear, you can feel, it is just a very relaxed state. Hypnosis can be performed on anyone who wishes to experience it. Everyone who wants to be hypnotised can be hypnotised. 

 

How does hypnosis work?

When a person is under hypnosis, their subconscious mind can be ‘spoken to’ which can bring about desired changes in their life. Studies have shown that subjects under hypnosis show an increased response to suggestions. The subconscious mind is also known as the unconscious mind. The subconscious mind has the ability to repress events which can be brought out through hypnotherapy.

Suggestion hypnotherapy is the most common form of hypnotherapy and the one which most hypnotherapists practice. During suggestion therapy you will be put into a hypnotic state and given positive suggestions which will have an effect on your behaviour once the session has finished. Suggestion therapy has many uses including:
